JESSICA APPRECIATES YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "Plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 Nov. 19,2008 Jess had a MRI today and I promised an update. We were thankful to hear that the MRI, again, looked very good. There was no sign of any regrowth of the tumor. For this good news we are celebrating and thanking God for His watchful eye and the loving embrace that He holds Jess and our family!! Dr. Mahr continues to be optimistic and Jess is looking forward to the near future (1st week in December)when she is through with her chemo. After the 12th and FINAL round of chemo her prescribed treatment will be complete and she will continue to have MRIs every 2 months. At this season of Thanksgiving, we are truly thankful for this recent good news and for the wonderful care that Jessica has received from the physicians at UT Southwestern. May all of you have a blessed Thanksgiving and enjoy and appreciate the time that you will have to spend with your families. Stephanie, Ronnie, Juli, James, Jess and Bo. Nov. 12,2008 Please take a moment to look at the new pictures on the web site. Most of these were taken at the Angel Adventure Walk that was a fundraiser for the National Brain Tumor Foundation. On Saturday, November 8, twenty-seven of our family and friends traveled to Ft. Worth to participate in this walk. It was a beautiful morning and an inspirational event! We named our team "Love for Jess" and wore shirts that had been donated by our good friend Cleve Hasten. The message on the shirt was "Hope and Faith and Love for Jess" with a reference to our favorite Bible verse, Jeremiah 29:11. The survivors were dressed in red shirts and it was surprising to see how many young people have been affected by this challenging disease. Scott Murray was the MC for the program and did a wonderful job. Many survivors and family members spoke of the effect that this disease has had on their lives. There was not a dry eye at the event. But the mood was upbeat. Most are like Jess; very positive and living a full life with a strength of spirit that is catching. A common thread among the survivors and their families was a strong faith in God and a belief that God is always present in their lives. There were many heros wearing red shirts on this day. Almost 1000 people participated in the Angel Adventure Walk and about $200,000 was raised! We see these donations as a sign of interest and hope in research on brain tumors. We view each day as a gift and an extension of time for a research scientist to continue working to find a cause and a cure for this disease. Jessica has now completed 11 rounds of chemotherapy and she will finish her last one in early December. She has a doctor's visit on November 19th with another MRI. We anticipate that this MRI will continue to look good as the last 2 have. I will update the site after we get the results of this next scan. Pray for Jess and all of us for a good report next week. Please keep our family in your prayers as we continue with this trial that God has presented to Jess. We praise God for His goodness and know that "truly the presence of God was in this place" when we gathered at Trinity Park to unite in this too- close-to-home cause.
